Abstract

ESDT is a highly effective (9) and patient-centered therapy for patients with RBES that is likely underutilized. Although patient and provider apprehension is understandable, the process of learning ESDT is straightforward with appropriate patient selection, counseling, and advance planning. Future and ongoing research is needed to confirm the clinical efficacy and safety, assess long-term durability and patient tolerability, and determine criteria for reducing self-dilation frequency.
