Abstract

The robotic approach for ileal pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA) has increasingly gained popularity over laparoscopy due to its technical superiority in the pelvic region. The robotic platform provides articulated instruments and three-dimensional vision, allowing improved identification of anatomic structures and nuanced dissection. However, the learning curve is still steep and requires solid experience in minimally invasive colorectal surgery. This chapter aims to guide surgeons step by step along with robotic proctectomy completion and IPAA procedure and give them tips and tricks to make it safe and easy. The main steps consist of J-pouch construction, followed by proctectomy and IPAA in one robotic docking.
