Abstract

Radiofrequency ablation has seen a widespread popularity in medical applications. As well as gastroenterology, applications in cardiology for ablation of conduction pathways, use in orthopedics for treatment of disc disease, pain clinic applications for destruction of nerve bundle, as well as tumor ablation in endocrine organs have become widespread. In gastroenterology, the primary uses have been an ablation of Barrett’s esophagus, treatment of gastric antral ectasias, therapy of cholangiocarcinoma, as well as ablation of hepatomas. Radiofrequency ablation has become an important treatment modality in therapeutic endoscopy.
