Abstract
To the Editor: The case presented by Hohlfeld et al. (March 28 issue)1 of a patient with polymyositis is very interesting and unique with regard to the immunopathological findings in the biopsy specimens. The authors were convinced that the γ/δ T cells found in the infiltrate were the cells that mediated the disease. Since this conclusion is based only on histologic evidence of the γ/δ T cells found at the site of the lesion, however, we think that other possibilities should be considered.
