Abstract
This review has importantly established the continued view that the syndrome of CHF is partly mediated by adaptive neurohumoral and renal mechanism. Continuing work is required, not only to further understand the role of these mechanisms in the pathophysiology of heart failure but also to develop appropriate therapeutic strategies for attenuating the vasoconstrictor mechanism and promoting the vasodilator-natriuretic systems in the regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis.
