Abstract
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by inflammation of the sinonasal mucosa. The various CRS subtypes are associated with unique etiopathologic mechanisms, which impacts treatment and prognosis. Recalcitrant CRS poses a therapeutic challenge and often requires different treatment strategies along the course of the disease. Medical therapy of CRS is a broad topic, as there are numerous classes of medications targeting the various etiologic factors and disease manifestations. This article summarizes current and emerging trends in the medical management of CRS, along with the associated evidence.
