Since its introduction in the late 1960s, low-intensity laser therapy has been investigated as a treatment modality with a variety of applications. Despite some evidence of in vitro effects, low-intensity laser therapy has yet to move beyond the level of marginal or no evidence of clinical effect. This article reviews findings from numerous studies investigating the efficacy of low-power laser therapy.
