Abstract

Infected pancreatic necrosis is a severe disease harboring potential for major complications and high patient morbidity and mortality. Recent advances have led to a nonoperative approach to sterile necrosis, and attempts to prevent infection using broad-spectrum antibiotics prophylactically. Infected necrosis still requires necrosectomy. We have described the diagnosis and management of patients with this difficult problem.
