title = "Finite-element assessment of change in regional ventricular wall muscle stiffness due to coronary occlusion",
abstract = "For study of the infarcted ventricular region due to coronary occlusion, a plane-strain, finite-element method is applied for approximately assessing the change in the stiffness of ventricular wall muscle. Based on the computed tomography images of ventricular cross-sectional shapes, at early and end of diastole, of baseline and acutely (3 hour) infarcted regions, the proposed method has enabled the parameters in the exponential equation relating the stiffness E to the ventricular pressure PLV to be quantified. From the dog experiments, the preliminary results show that after three hours of coronary arterial occlusion, the E values and increased in the infarcted regions and more marked at higher range of PLV.",
