Abstract
Diagnosing and localizing seizures is based upon a thorough and comprehensive clinical history, with the physical examination and supporting laboratory, imaging, and neurophysiologic studies used only to confirm that a seizure occurred and investigate the etiology. This chapter discusses the diagnosis of seizures and the anatomic localization of focal seizures with a particular emphasis on bedside evaluation techniques such as observation, history, and semiology.
