N2 - Despite the advances in mapping and ablation technology made over the last decade, accurate definition of arrhythmia mechanism remains a prerequisite for further planning and execution of the ablation approach. The student of electrophysiology needs to be familiar with various classical rhythm delineation maneuvers (entrainment, etc.), reliable and accurate acquisition of data points during three-dimensional mapping, and now also the principle and limitations of a novel pacing maneuver-PPIV. Colombowala et al. have presented an easily executed, elegant, validated pacing maneuver that once fully understood and with cognizance of the limitations involved when equating PPIV to arrhythmia mechanism, becomes an useful addition to the electrophysiologist's armamentarium. Given the complexity of the arrhythmias we treat in our patients, we can certainly use all the help we can get!
