The techniques and protocols we use have achieved a 2-year actuarial survival rate of 81% and a retransplantation rate of 10%. These are success rates similar to those achieved with cadaveric renal transplantation and orthotopic cardiac transplantation. The BUMC experience strongly supports the position that OLTX is no longer an experimental procedure.
