Abstract

The technical developments in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is analyzed and future trends are indicated. Image processing capability of MRI systems has increased. Technical advances in MRI include interactive imaging and real-time sequence switching. The various factors driving these developments include the continuing need to provide improved speed of image acquisition; the desire to provide expanded applications; and the demands of the marketplace. The study showed that at the start of the 21st century, the number of MRI systems worldwide is in excess of 10,000.
