Abstract
The success rates of medications for smoking cessation increase with more intensive adjuvant behavioral support. Despite this, effective behavioral treatments are greatly underutilized by smokers. In this chapter, we review key reasons for utilizing behavioral treatments and describe effective behavioral methods and the use of behavioral therapy in combination with medications among adult smokers. Recommendations for future innovative research are also offered.
