Abstract

This chapter focuses on patients with a preexisting inflammatory arthritis subsequently treated by immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy for malignancy. We summarize the available epidemiologic and pathologic studies involving this subgroup of patients. An illustrative case of a patient with preexisting rheumatoid arthritis exposed to ICI for melanoma and followed longitudinally is presented in detail to highlight the clinical course and management challenges faced when caring for these patients.
