Abstract
Implantable cardioverter de fibrillators (ICDs) remain the de facto gold standard for sudden death prevention in high-risk populations. However, ICD therapy is associated with morbidity and resource utilization related to shock delivery, product advisories, and, in some cases, right ventricular pacing induced heart failure and atrial fibrillation. This chapter reviews how to optimize ICD therapy by minimizing these comorbidities.
