Alternative therapies for chronic refractory coronary artery disease

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) appears to be well embedded into the American culture [1]. This phenomenon, coupled with the explosive growth of the Internet, has provided patients and consumers dramatically increased access to information about a variety of alternative treatments that were relatively unheard of a decade or two ago. Most studies suggest that at least 40% of US adults have used some form of CAM in the past year. Interest in CAM is particularly high in those patients who are facing chronic illnesses, and patients with chronic coronary artery disease (CAD) are no exception.
