Abstract
The sources of caring does not always come from rich personal experience. In my case, learning to care came from a surrogate family of medical educators. As a wounded healer, I am able to care well for people near life's end. Mindfulness serves as the vehicle enabling me to have a continuous awareness of the well–being of the patient and myself during the therapeutic interaction. Mindfulness draws me near the core of the patient's narrative. Herein, I reflect on my mindfulness practice in relation to the patient narrative.
