Abstract

Formation of uranium(V) was established using electronic absorption studies in the photochemical reduction of the uranyl ion by dicyclohexylsulphide in dry acetone medium. Low values of the quantum yields Φ(U(V)) were found. The Stern-Volmer quenching constant suggests a significant physical quenching contribution of the cyclohexyl group.
