N2 - Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is the most common malignancy associated with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Epidemiologic and molecular studies of AIDS-related KS (AIDS-KS) are being performed to provide a better understanding of the etiology of the disease, so that rational therapy can be devised. Effective palliative treatment is currently available using conventional chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biologic response modifiers, and various local treatment modalities. AIDS-KS is a heterogeneous disease, and therapy must therefore be individualized, with consideration given to the patient's clinical and immunologic status.
