Abstract
This chapter discusses the application of architectures, describes work by Gilbert, Kinter, Schwab, Naused, Krueger, and Van Nurden of Mayo Foundation and Zucca of Rockwell International Microelectronics Research and Developmant Center on signal processing at high data rates. In this chapter the use of both parallel architectures and high-speed circuits is discussed in the context of future circuits developments. The use of gallium arsenide devices for high speed is proposed and the comparison with silicon circuits discussed.
