N2 - The potential mechanosensory mechanisms in airway epithelial cells exposed to a transcellular pressure difference were discussed. Normal human bronchial epithelial cells were plated on uncoated nucleopore polyester Transwell Clear Membranes, 12 mm in diameter. Cells were seen to deform into the porous substrate. Displacements into the pore were 0.05 μm.
