Abstract

Educated asthmatics can be involved in self-management strategies that focus on prevention and treatment of airway inflammation using environmental control and inhaled anti-inflammatories (particularly corticosteroids) as the cornerstones of therapy. Such an approach to treatment should reduce both morbidity and mortality from asthma.
