Abstract

Liver transplantation is now an established treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease. This review covers the published literature in liver transplantation during this past year. With increasing long-term survival of the liver transplant recipients, the impact of complications related to the transplant are becoming increasingly important. Hepatitis C virus and cytomegalovirus infections after liver transplantation are described. Newer development in immunosuppressive therapy and better understanding of allograft rejection are also noted.
