Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1, Recklinghausen’s disease) is characterized by variable cutaneous, neurological, skeletal, and neoplastic manifestations as well as a progressive course. The neurofibromas occur in many areas of the body and organs. Treatment has been with laser, resection, and electrocautery. Recently, liposuction was added in surgical armamentarium for the debulking of superficial plexiform neurofibromas. The authors discuss liposuction technique and possible complications. Experience in the treatment of plexiform neurofibromas with liposuction is limited, based on just a few cases.
