Abstract
Degenerative hip pathology is a common problem in the general population. Common etiologies include osteoarthritis, posttraumatic arthritis, and osteonecrosis. Although total joint arthroplasty remains the best and most reliable treatment of end-stage hip arthritis, complications such as dislocations and periprosthetic joint infection remain a concern. It is helpful to review the most up-to-date information on common etiologies contributing to degenerative joint disease as well as potential treatment options and associated complications.
