Abstract
Cholangiocarcinoma is a malignancy of the bile ducts with increasing incidence over the last two decades. Most cases of cholangiocarcinoma are idiopathic, although several predisposing diseases and factors have been determined, the most notable of which is primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). Cholangiocarcinoma presents a diagnostic challenge given its insidious development, particularly in the context of PSC. Apart from surgical resection, therapies for cholangiocarcinoma are limited, therefore diminishing the survival of patients. In selected cases of cholangiocarcinoma, liver transplantation provides an excellent therapeutic option.
