Abstract

CHEST COMPRESSIONS ▪ Rhythmic pressure over the lower half of the sternum ▪ Compression rate of 100/minute ▪ Ratio of 15 compressions to 2 ventilations ▪ Compress sternum approximately 2 inches and assess ade- quacy of compression by palpating carotid or femoral pulse. ▪ Effective chest compression produces a systolic blood pressure of about 70 mm Hg and a cardiac output about onethird of normal.
