Mayo Clinic Scottsdale Clinical Trial Capacity Expansion

Finding effective treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is of paramount importance. Though there are many potential treatments ready to be tested or in development, there is a bottleneck at the clinical trial stage of the drug development process. If this can be addressed, people with ALS would have greater access to clinical trials and the field would have greater knowledge as to whether potential treatments are effective. Expansion of the number of clinical trial sites would alleviate this bottleneck, and one of the biggest barriers to having fully operational trial sites is having the right team in place to carry out the clinical trials. This proposal is to expand our site's operational capacity by hiring key staff necessary to ensure smooth clinical trial operation. With help from the ALS Association, we can remove this barrier. This will allow us to conduct clinical trials and expand our trial offerings, complete trials more quickly, and build momentum to be self-sustaining as we continue to search for a cure.
